Privacy Policy

Effective Date: July 16, 2026

Effective Date

This Privacy Policy is effective as of July 16, 2026. It explains how Receipt Vault (“we,” “us,” or “the App”) handles information when you use the App on Apple platforms.

Information We Collect

Receipt content you create: merchant names, purchase dates, amounts, categories, notes, warranty details, tags, and receipt images you scan or import.

Account information: if you sign in with Apple, we receive an opaque Apple user identifier and, only if you choose to share it, an email address used for account backup and sync.

Device and app context: local preferences such as appearance, reminder lead times, and whether iCloud sync is enabled. When you contact support, you may choose to share app version and device type to help us troubleshoot.

How We Use Information

We use your information to operate core features: storing and displaying receipts, searching your vault, tracking products and warranties, scheduling local reminders, exporting files you request, and syncing when you enable backup or iCloud.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use receipt contents for advertising.

Data Storage

Receipt Vault is designed local-first. Receipt images and related details are stored on your device by default using on-device persistence.

Exports you create (PDF, CSV, or ZIP) are generated on your device and shared only through the system share sheet you choose. We do not automatically upload exports to our servers.

iCloud Sync

If you enable Sync with iCloud, Apple’s CloudKit may mirror eligible vault data across your devices signed into the same iCloud account. That sync is governed by Apple’s privacy practices and your iCloud settings.

You can turn iCloud sync off in Settings. Turning it off keeps existing data on the device; it does not delete copies already stored in your iCloud account unless you remove them through Apple’s tools.

OCR Processing

Receipt text recognition uses Apple’s on-device Vision framework. OCR runs on your device to suggest merchant, date, total, and related fields. Processed text stays under your control in the App unless you enable sync or export features that move data as described above.

Notifications

Warranty reminders use local notifications scheduled on your device. Notification permission is optional. You can change reminder timing in the App or disable notifications in iOS Settings at any time.

Sharing and Third Parties

Sign in with Apple and optional account backup may involve Apple and our authentication/backend providers solely to authenticate you and sync vault data you choose to back up.

We do not share your receipt contents with third parties for their marketing. Service providers that help deliver account backup are permitted to process data only as needed to provide that service and are expected to protect it appropriately.

If you use system share or export, the destination apps or services you select receive only what you send.

Your Rights and Choices

You can edit or delete receipts and products in the App, adjust reminder settings, disable notifications, turn iCloud sync on or off, sign out of account backup, and export data you control on your device.

If you created an account (including Sign in with Apple), you can permanently delete your account in Settings → Delete account. Deletion removes your cloud account and associated backup data, and clears receipt and product data stored for that account on this device. This cannot be undone.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date above and, where appropriate, provide notice in the App. Continued use after an update means you acknowledge the revised policy.
